Summary: I spent a week at Jan Kok while on a birding holiday. The property is safe, quiet, and perfect for those looking for privacy and seclusion. This is a great choice for birders, as the property has lots of plants and resident birds, and it's only a 10-minute walk to the nearby salina, where flamingos and other waterbirds abound. A car is absolutely necessary, but there's a grocery store and restaurants within a 10-minute drive. The lodges are very clean and stocked with all the basic kitchen tools, but bring your own soap, shampoo, and coffee or tea. Highly recommended for independent travelers who want to avoid the noise and bustle of resorts.
