You can cycle on the "Vulkanradweg" (volcano cycle path) without having to climb steep inclines, because it was built on former railroad tracks. For bathing and water sports enthusiasts, the Niddastausee, 6 km away, invites you to swim, fish, sail and surf. Schotten itself is a typical, Hessian half-timbered town with a charming townscape as well as numerous opportunities for shopping. The Vulkaneum provides multimedia information about the geological history of the largest extinct volcano on the European continent.
